Soft Ground and a Heavy Rig Don't Mix

Park a heavy RV on grass or soft ground and it sinks, ruts, and sits on a tilt. A trailer or motorhome puts a lot of weight on a small footprint, and ground that wasn’t built for it gives way, especially through a wet Victoria winter.

An RV pad is a level, solid base made to carry that weight and shed water. We dig out the area, lay and compact a gravel base, and grade it flat with a slight fall so water runs off instead of pooling under your rig. Built right, it gives the RV a firm, level spot that holds up year-round.

Victoria ground doesn’t make that automatic. Rock near the surface, clay that holds water, and soft fill all work against a stable pad. We run compact excavators, dig down to solid ground, and build the base back up so the pad sits level and stays put once the RV’s on it.

That’s the difference between somewhere to park and a proper place to park.

From the Quote to a Pad You Can Park On

We look at the spot and quote it straight. We look at the spot, the access, the ground, and the size of your rig, then give you a written price and timeline.
We dig out the area. The excavator strips the sod and soft ground, cuts through rock if it’s in the way, and hauls the spoil off so the pad starts on solid ground.
We lay and compact the gravel base. We bring in the gravel, build the base up, and compact it down solid.
We grade it level and clean up. We grade the pad flat to park on, with just enough fall to drain, then tidy the site and walk it with you at the end.

Before we build a pad, people usually ask what it costs, gravel or concrete, and whether it will take the weight of their rig.

How much does an RV pad cost in Victoria, BC?

RV pad cost in Victoria depends on the size of the pad, how deep it has to be dug, whether there's rock to break, how much gravel goes in, and how easily equipment can reach the spot. A small trailer pad is a different job from a wide pad for a big motorhome. Send photos and rough measurements and we'll give you an accurate written quote

How long does it take to build an RV pad?

Most pads are a day or two. A bigger pad, hard digging, or rock takes longer, and you'll get an estimated timeline with your written quote.

Can you build a pad on a tight or awkward spot?

Yes. We use compact excavators that fit narrow access and work close to fences and buildings, so we can put a pad down the side of the house or in a back corner that bigger machines can't reach without damage. We plan the route in before the machines arrive.

Gravel or concrete for an RV pad?

Gravel is the usual choice, and it's what we build. It carries the weight, drains well, and costs less than concrete, which is why most RV pads are gravel. If you'd rather have concrete, we do the digging, base, and grading to get the ground ready, and a concrete crew handles the pour.

How big should an RV pad be?

Size the pad to your rig plus a bit of room around it. It should be long and wide enough to park on with the slide-outs open and room to walk around, and to pull in and out without dropping a wheel off the edge. Tell us your rig's dimensions and we'll size the pad to suit.

Will the pad hold a big motorhome or fifth wheel?

Yes. A properly dug and compacted gravel base is built to carry that weight, which is the whole point of a pad over parking on grass or dirt. The heavier the rig, the more the base matters, and the base is the part we build.
